Frequently asked questions
What is Drenched?
A hydration tracker for Android. You log what you drink, and a cloud companion reacts — it rains when you drink, brightens as you keep up with your goal, and droops when you fall behind. Streaks, XP, levels, and achievements turn staying hydrated into a habit you keep.
Which devices does it run on?
Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or newer. Drenched is a native Kotlin app, so there is no iPhone version and no web version — an iOS release would be a complete rewrite, and we have not committed to one.
What does it cost?
Drenched is free, and the current release contains no purchases and no ads at all. A paid tier with extra features may arrive later; if it does, everything in the app today stays free.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No account, no sign-up, no email required. The app works fully offline. It makes a single request on launch to check for a newer version, and that request sends nothing about you — see our Privacy Policy.
Where is my data stored? Can you see it?
Everything stays on your phone. We have no server and no copy of your data — we cannot see what you log, and we could not retrieve it even if you asked.
Will my data move to a new phone?
Not automatically, and this one catches people out. There is no cloud save. A new phone, a reinstall, or clearing app storage starts you from zero — streaks and all. Your best protection is Android's built-in backup: turn on Settings → Google → Backup before you switch devices, then restore during the new phone's setup.
How is my daily goal calculated?
From the weight, age, exercise level, and climate you enter, using general hydration formulas. It's an estimate to aim at, not a medical prescription — see the health note at the bottom of this page. You can adjust your details any time in Settings.
Why is the app warning me to stop drinking?
Because drinking far more water than you need in a short period is genuinely dangerous — it can dilute the sodium in your blood. Drenched watches for intake well above your goal and tells you to ease off. Take the warning seriously.
How do I delete my data?
Uninstall the app, or go to Settings → Apps → Drenched → Storage → Clear storage. Either one erases everything permanently and immediately. Nothing needs to be requested from us, because we hold nothing.
Troubleshooting
Most problems are solved by one of these. If none work, email us and say what you already tried.
Reminders aren't arriving
This is the most common issue, and it's almost always Android's battery optimisation pausing the app in the background. Fix it in two places:
- Settings → Apps → Drenched → Battery → set to Unrestricted
- Settings → Apps → Drenched → Notifications → confirm notifications are allowed
Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Oppo, and Huawei devices are especially aggressive — on those, also look for a “protected apps,” “auto-start,” or “sleeping apps” list and make sure Drenched is excluded from it.
Reminders stopped after I restarted my phone
Drenched reschedules its reminders automatically on boot, but that can be blocked by the same battery restrictions above. Open the app once after restarting and check the battery setting.
The home-screen widget isn't updating
Open the app to refresh it, and apply the same unrestricted-battery setting. If the widget is stuck, remove it from your home screen and add it again.
The app crashes or won't open
Force-close it and reopen. If that doesn't work, restart your phone and make sure you're on the latest version. On Android you can clear the app's cache — Settings → Apps → Drenched → Storage → Clear cache — without losing any of your data. Do not use “Clear storage,” which erases your history permanently. If it still crashes, email us with your phone model and Android version.
My streak reset unexpectedly
Streaks roll over at local midnight, so travelling across time zones or changing your device clock can shift a day boundary. If you think a streak was lost by mistake, email us with the date and we'll look into it.
I logged the wrong drink
Open today's log and remove or edit the entry — your goal, XP, and cloud mood recalculate straight away.
My goal looks too high or too low
Recheck the weight, age, exercise, and climate values in Settings, since the goal is derived from them. If the number still looks wrong for you, follow your healthcare provider's guidance over the app's estimate.
Sharing a Daily Card doesn't work
The card is rendered on your device and passed to Android's share sheet, so failures usually come from the receiving app. Try sharing to a different app, or save the image and attach it manually.
I lost everything after reinstalling
Data lives only on the device, so uninstalling deletes it permanently and we have no copy to restore. If you have an Android backup from before the uninstall, restoring the device from it is the only route back.
Health note. Drenched is a general wellness app, not a medical device. Its goals and warnings are estimates, not medical advice or a diagnosis. Talk to a qualified healthcare professional about your own hydration needs — especially if you are pregnant, take medication, or have a heart, kidney, or other medical condition. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services.
